How do I make a CD?
Most people who make an enquiry about our services have never actually made a CD before and they are unaware of the complexity of the project.
A
t CD Manufacture we have been making CD's and DVD's for the specialist
music industry for over twenty years and because, like you, we
too have been in bands, we understand what you want.
Our experience shows us that to much information can been a danger. We have simplified our service to make it even easier to get your CD/DVD's up and running and looking great in no time.
What do I do next?
1. You have a recording of the music you wish to have on CD. This is called a master recording and if you have been in a recording studio, it should be made to the Red Book Standard. If you need Finalisation ( balancing and spacing between tracks) then please contact us here.
2. You
have
a finalised master and wish to move forward. The first thing
you need to think about is the Artwork.
Artwork causes more delays than anything. It needs to be professionally laid out and have printers marks, colour id and the fold and cutt marks included.
You can develope the artwork yourself's or get a graphic designer to help you. If you need a designer we recommend XDM who are very reasonably priced and have loads of experience of album design.
If you have the artwork ideas and need to have it professionally laid out then please contact us here.
3. Once we have the laid out artwork and the finalised master we can go to manufacture.
What do we need for you?
- a CD audio Master of the music.
- a CD with the Artwork laid out in Jpeg / ai. format.
- include the label lay out on the above.
- a mock-up of the CD artwork as you would like it to appear.
- Don't forget ~ if you want to release your CD it will need a Barcode and a catalogue number!
How may CD's do you need?
We can make you as few as 10 CD's. Or we can
make you 500,000.
A band looking to get a deal will need about 50 cds. These can be printed quickly and you have the choice of including printed booklet (inlay) or not and a choice of cases. please contact us here for more info. PS. we can always make you more later!
A band looking to sell CDs at gigs and to friends can break even on 35 sales talk to us here.
If you have distribution and/or are serious about promotion, you need at least 500 units professional manufactured. However you may find it cheaper to make 1000 and have some to sell at gigs. Contact us here.
